Bell Peppers

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green Bell Peppers are sporadic; MFC and ESS Red Bell Peppers are available
  • The seasons in South Florida and Coachella, California are winding down; quality issues may include bruising, scarring, and wind damage
  • The heavy precipitation that is forecast this week in Georgia may disrupt new crop harvests
  • Expect fewer supplies and higher prices in all regions over the next two weeks as inconsistent weather reduces volume

Idaho Potatoes

  • MFC Burbanks are available; storage crop MFC Norkotahs are depleted
  • The Burbank variety will be shipped until new crop, field-run Norkotahs become available in August
  • Size profile is currently dominated by small-size potatoes (80- to 100-count stocks); large sizes (40- to 70-count supplies) are tighter
  • Prices will inch up as the storage season progresses; the market for large sizes will rise at a faster rate than small sizes

Onions

  • MFC Red and Yellow Onions remain available in Washington; supplies from Idaho and Oregon are depleted
  • MFC Red, Yellow, and White Onions are available in California; size is dominated by medium and jumbo sizes
  • MFC Red, Yellow, and White Onions from New Mexico will be on the market the week of May 29; the crop is dominated by medium and jumbo sizes
  • Spring/fresh-run onions will have feathery skins and light-color exterior skin compared to Northwest storage onions
