Domestic Melons

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Cantaloupe Melons are available; MFC Honeydew Melons will begin shipping Thursday, May 31
  • Packer label honeydews are being packed due to low volume; most suppliers are packing in jumbo-size cartons
  • Triple-digit temperatures are forecast for Monday, May 28, which is ideal for melon growth
  • Stocks will increase after Memorial Day weekend; prices are expected to ease

Lemons

  • MFC and Markon Essentials Lemons are available
  • Production has fully transitioned from San Joaquin Valley, California to the Southern California coastal region
  • Shelf-life is shorter than normal at this time of year
  • Expect prices to continue rising through the summer

Rain in the Southeast

  • MFC Peppers, Cucumbers, Squash, and Tomatoes are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
  • Rainfall will be lighter in Georgia than Florida
  • Expect loading delays and quality issues such as bruising, decay, and wind damage over the next ten days
  • Bell pepper prices will remain elevated through next week; prices for other items are poised to rise
