Domestic Melons
- Markon First Crop (MFC) Cantaloupe Melons are available; MFC Honeydew Melons will begin shipping Thursday, May 31
- Packer label honeydews are being packed due to low volume; most suppliers are packing in jumbo-size cartons
- Triple-digit temperatures are forecast for Monday, May 28, which is ideal for melon growth
- Stocks will increase after Memorial Day weekend; prices are expected to ease
Lemons
- MFC and Markon Essentials Lemons are available
- Production has fully transitioned from San Joaquin Valley, California to the Southern California coastal region
- Shelf-life is shorter than normal at this time of year
- Expect prices to continue rising through the summer
Rain in the Southeast
- MFC Peppers, Cucumbers, Squash, and Tomatoes are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
- Rainfall will be lighter in Georgia than Florida
- Expect loading delays and quality issues such as bruising, decay, and wind damage over the next ten days
- Bell pepper prices will remain elevated through next week; prices for other items are poised to rise
