Bell Peppers
Green Bells

• Inventories are adequate in Sinaloa, Mexico; expect growers to make the spring transition to the northern growing region of Sonora in two to three weeks
• The California season will begin in early April
• Overall demand is strong; prices are rising

Red and Yellow Bells

• Mexico is the primary growing region; supplies are sufficient
• Florida produces a limited quantity of colored peppers
• The California season will begin in mid-May

Cauliflower

• Markon Essentials Cauliflower is limited; packer label will be substituted as needed
• Recent cold weather has slowed growth in the Arizona/California desert growing region, lowering yields
• Expect tight stocks and elevated markets over the next two weeks

Green leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine

• Demand continues to increase following recent unseasonably low temperatures experienced across the United States
• Many COVID-19-related indoor dining restrictions are being eased, further strengthening demand
• Supplies remain plentiful in the Arizona/California desert as growers approach the spring harvesting transition
• The season in Huron, California will begin in mid-March
• Salinas, California production will begin by early April
• The Arizona/California desert season will wind down in late March
• Expect active prices over the next two to three weeks, provided stronger demand levels are sustained

Limes

• Mexican shipments (through South Texas) are below normal levels, keeping availability limited
• 110- and 150-count sizes will tighten over the next two to three weeks as the size curve begins to shift to 175-count and smaller sizes
• Volume will remain low until the new crop season fully ramps up over the next few weeks
• Expect elevated markets with increased demand through April, which is normal for this time of year

Onions
Texas

• Reports indicate approximately 5,000 acres were planted in the state of Texas this season; approximately 6,000 acres were planted last season  
• It is estimated that the industry will lose 15% to 30% of their crop due to the mid-February freeze
• Expect elevated prices for Texas-grown onions through the entire season (March through May)
• Texas-grown Markon First Crop (MFC) Onions are expected to enter the market at the end of next week

Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and Washington

• MFC Onions are readily available
• Quality is excellent
