UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF MARCH 2, 2020

California Navel Oranges
  • Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Navel Oranges are available 
  • 113- and 138-count sizes are tight
  • Navel supplies will be available through late May
  • New crop California Valencia production is expected to start in late April/early May
  • Florida’s orange season is still in full swing
Limes
  • MFC and ESS Limes are available 
  • Crossings into the U.S. are steady to slightly higher than normal, but increased demand is keeping availability limited
  • Weather in Mexico’s primary lime growing region is favorable with steady supply expected in the coming weeks
  • 110- and 150-count sizes will tighten in the next two to three weeks as the size curve shifts to 175-count and smaller sizes
  • Expect markets to continue rising with increased demand through April, which is normal for this time of year
Onions
  • The Northwest season will run through late April/early May 
  • Mexican onions (into South Texas) continue to ramp up  
  • Texas-grown onions will become available the week of March 16 
  • Production in Imperial Valley, California will begin in late April
  • The New Mexico season is forecast to start by early June
Squash
  • Inclement weather has slowed maturity in both Florida and Mexico
  • Warmer temperatures in Mexico are forecast starting Thursday, March 5 through Thursday, March 12
  • New crop squash production has started in a limited way in Sonora, Mexico; supplies will increase by late next week
  • Prices will remain elevated through next week
