UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF MARCH 19, 2018

Lettuce and Leafy Greens
- Despite rain and cooler temperatures, lettuce and leafy green prices are decreasing
- Three major storms have moved through the Northeast over the past three weeks, diminishing demand
- Quality will improve and weights will increase in late April
Limes
- Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials Limes are available
- Fewer supplies out of Mexico are being harvested due to wet weather and limited labor availability caused by the Easter holiday week
- More rain is forecast through this evening Thursday, March 22
- Prices are rising
Onions
- MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions are readily available in the Northwest
- Limited supplies of Texas-grown MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will enter the market next week
- California MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will become available the last week of April
- New Mexico MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions are forecast to hit the market in early May
Romaine
- Supplies are increasing in California’s Central Valley, but continue to be shipped out of the Arizona/California desert region
- Three major storms have moved through the Northeast over the past three weeks, diminishing demand
- The market is easing
Strawberries
- MFC Strawberries are limited; Markon Best Available and packer label are being substituted due to rain
- California’s growing regions received another series of rain events that will persist into Thursday evening, March 22
- Quality and shelf-life will be heavily impacted
- Expect tight supplies and elevated prices over the next several weeks
