UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF JUNE 24, 2019

Bell Peppers
- Green bell harvesting will end this week in the California desert; the new crop season is underway in California’s San Joaquin Valley
- Red and yellow production is winding down in the California desert; the San Joaquin Valley will not begin until July 8
- Mexico has light supplies of green, red, and yellow bells from the Coahuila region (crossing into South Texas)
- The Georgia season has ended; green bell production is ramping up in North Carolina (red and yellow are not common in this region)
- Michigan harvesting is delayed due to cool temperatures; the season is forecast to start mid- to late July
- Expect very limited red and yellow bell pepper supplies through mid-July
Yellow Onions
- Stocks are tight in New Mexico due to more than three inches of rain two weeks ago
- Yellow onion demand has shifted to California, where stocks are limited
- Lead-time and flexible loading dates will be needed for order coverage
- Demand exceeds supply; the market will remain elevated through next week
