 California Strawberries

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Strawberries are available; Markon Best Available and packer label will be substituted as needed
  • Recent warm weather is increasing supplies; the long-term forecast calls for plentiful stocks through September
  • High temperatures are affecting quality in some lots; cold-chain management remains a vital component of maximizing shelf-life
  • Prices are easing

Cilantro

  • Ready-Set-Serve Washed & Trimmed Cilantro is sporadic due to erratic quality
  • Hot, humid weather in the Southern California growing regions is creating quality and shelf-life concerns
  • Supplies will become limited over the next two weeks, but should increase by mid-August
  • Prices are rising

Idaho Potatoes

  • MFC Idaho Burbank Potatoes will be available through August 30
  • New crop, field-run Norkotahs will enter the market on August 1

Lemons

  • MFC and Markon Essentials (ESS) Lemons are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
  • Domestic California coastal volume has dropped significantly due to sustained high temperatures
  • Supplies are limited; substituting sizes, grades, and country of origin will aid in order coverage
  • Prices will continue to climb each week for the next five to seven weeks

Oranges

  • MFC and ESS Valencia Oranges are sporadic; packer label supplies are being substituted as needed
  • Domestic California Valencia stocks will become limited over the next two weeks, especially 113- and 138-count sizes
  • An industry-wide supply shortage of domestic Valencias is expected to occur by mid-August; offshore Navels will be supplemented as needed to fill all orders
  • Prices are rising
