Cucumbers

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Cucumbers are available
  • The Baja Peninsula in Mexico is the main growing region on the West Coast
    • Limited transportation and increased fuel costs are having an impact on prices
    • Quality is excellent
  • East Coast weather has ended the Georgia season; crops have transitioned to North Carolina, Virginia, and New Jersey
    • Current supply is adequate and will increase over the next two weeks as more local/regional production gets underway
    • Quality is very good
  • Expect elevated prices over the next two weeks

Onions
New Mexico

  • Suppliers are packing ahead of an expected storm system and storing onions in packing sheds to avoid supply disruptions
  • The market is expected hold steady as demand for the Fourth of July holiday has subsided

California

  • Ample supplies of MFC Red and Yellow Onions are available

Washington

  • The MFC Washington storage crop has been depleted
  • Markon is monitoring the current heatwave in the Pacific Northwest as onions for the 2021-2022 storage season are currently in the ground
