UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF JANUARY 7, 2019

Broccoli and Cauliflower
- Expect high prices and tight supplies this week
- Sustained cold weather has slowed maturity in the Arizona/California desert region
- Higher temperatures are forecast over the next several days that should aid plant growth
- Up to a quarter inch of rain is predicted for January 13-14 that could cause harvesting delays early next week
Grapes
- Markon First Crop (MFC) Lunch Bunch Grapes and packer label red seedless supplies will begin shipping the week of January 21, 2019
- Green seedless grapes will start shipping in packer label this week
- Grape Escape is expected to hit the market the week of January 14, 2019
- Prices will increase as we begin transitioning from California to the Chilean/Peruvian harvesting areas
Limes
- MFC Limes are available
- Mexican lime shipments into the U.S. are below normal; stocks are beginning to tighten
- Cool temperatures and wet weather has slowed growth and delayed harvests in Mexico
- Prices will continue to rise over the next several weeks
Onions
- Production schedules were cut short over the holiday season, reducing volume
- Demand is strong in all regions
- Expect the market to continue inching up over the next several weeks
- Prices will settle once Mexican and Texas-grown onions become available in February and March
