Cilantro
- Demand has weakened
- Prices are decreasing
- Supplies are sufficient
Lettuce and Leafy Greens
- Warmer weather conditions continue to mature iceberg, leafy greens ahead of schedule by 10 to 14 days
- Growers warn of a possible supply gap
- Barring adverse weather conditions in the California growing regions, a normal harvesting transition north to the Salinas Valley is forecast in early March
- Prices will rise if there is a supply gap in February and/or March
Low Temperatures in Mexico, Texas, and the Southeast
Southeast
- A limited supply of Markon First Crop (MFC) Green Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, Squashes, and Strawberries are available in Florida
- Another cold front has hit Florida, limiting production
- Low yields will keep prices elevated into next week
Southern Texas
- Areas of South Texas are experiencing freezing temperatures; poor road conditions will delay shipments
- Commodities such as cabbage and citrus that are grown in the region will be affected
- Expect higher prices and scarce supplies
Northern Mexico
- Mexican-grown MFC Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, and Squashes are being affected by cold weather, but remain available (into Nogales, Arizona)
- Production will slow and yields will decrease
- Prices may inch up next week
