Cold Weather in Mexico Affecting Supplies
- Unfavorable weather conditions in the growing regions of Mexico (Hermosillo, Sonora and Culiacan, Sinaloa), are limiting bell pepper, cucumber, squash, and tomato supplies
- Prices are poised to rise; expect elevated markets into early March
- Cold weather and rain will affect plant maturity and reduce yields
- The Hermosillo/Culiacan growing regions will continue to encounter adverse weather conditions reducing volume for next week
Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine
- Abnormally low temperatures continue to slow plant maturity and decrease yields, further depleting volume for next week
- Temperatures are expected to return to normal levels by Wednesday, February 27, which will help progress fields and increase harvest yields
- Green leaf, iceberg, and romaine supplies are limited in the Arizona/California desert growing region, escalating prices in the desert growing region
Green Onions
- Below-normal temperatures will persist into the weekend, keeping supplies relatively limited
- Markets are expected to remain steady for the next two to three weeks with sub-optimal weather in the forecast
