UPDATE SUMMARY: Week of August 3, 2015

August 10, 2015

Warm, humid weather has weakened raw cilantro quality and reduced yields in Mexico and the U.S. Expect elevated prices and tight supplies for the next 7 to 10 days. Lower yields and strong demand will increase broccoli, iceberg, romaine, and romaine heart prices. Iceberg growers are ahead of scheduled production; supplies will be limited through early next week. Growers are heavily culling strawberry fields due to poor quality fruit in the Salinas/Watsonville, California growing region. New crop Santa Maria volume levels are expected to increase by the week of August 17.
