UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF APRIL 29, 2019

- Broccoli and cauliflower prices are elevated due to gaps in planting schedules that occurred during the winter
- These gaps have delayed harvesting and reduced stocks
- Expect markets to fluctuate over the next several weeks
Brussels Sprouts

There are currently two primary Brussels sprout growing regions in North America
- Mexico – Baja, California
- California – Central Coast (Oxnard and Santa Maria)
- Yields are lower in both California and Mexico; winter rain and cold weather stunted crop growth
- Expect high prices and extremely limited supplies through mid-June
Cantaloupe and Honeydew Melons

The offshore season is winding down; shipments will continue arriving on the East Coast through May
- Cantaloupe prices are elevated; stocks are limited
- Honeydew markets are stable; supplies are adequate
- Mexican cantaloupe and honeydew melons will be shipped as needed until domestic supplies ramp up
- Markon First Crop Cantaloupes and Honeydews will be available the week of May 20
