UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF APRIL 23, 2018

California Oranges
- Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials Navel Oranges are limited
- MFC Valencia Oranges will be available in mid-May when supplies increase
- Stocks are dominated by large sizes (56- and 72-count fruit); smaller sizes are extremely tight
- New crop California Valencia supplies are available; total yield estimates are down approximately 10% from last season
- Prices are rising; expect higher markets through May
Grapes
- MFC Lunch Bunch Grapes are available out of Chile through June 15; Mexican-grown MFC Lunch Bunch Grapes will be available mid- to late June
- The Chilean season will come to an end in early to mid-June
- Mexican green grapes are expected to start shipping the week of May 7; red seedless will begin one week later
- Markets will rise as the Chilean season winds down, then easing by late May as Mexican volume increases
Squash
- MFC Squash from Mexico (into Nogales, Arizona) and Florida is limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
- Cooler-than-normal temperatures and strong winds in Mexico’s primary growing region have impacted supply and quality, increasing markets in Florida
- Expect elevated prices for the next 7 to 10 days; markets will ease with favorable weather in the forecast
- Pricing will remain elevated through next week
