UPDATE: STRAWBERRIES

Rain has impacted California’s main growing regions. Already tight supplies have decreased further; quality issues such as small size, mold, and reduced shelf-life will become more prevalent. New crop Mexican fruit is being shipped into California to supplement low volume. Mexican fruit quality is very good: berries are sweet and plump.
Oxnard and Santa Maria
- Quality and supply levels have been affected by wet weather
- Various reports in Oxnard show .50 inch of precipitation today; the next rain event is expected next Monday/Tuesday
- The Santa Maria season is nearly finished
- Oxnard berry size is medium (approximately 18-26 pieces per one-pound clamshell)
- Quality concerns that inspectors are monitoring include small size and mold
Mexico
- Mexican supplies are available for loading in South Texas, Yuma, Arizona, as well as Oxnard and Los Angeles, California
- Sizing is currently on the medium side; about 18-26 pieces per 1 pound clamshell
- Berry size is medium (approximately 18-26 pieces per one-pound clamshell)
- Volume is increasing
- Quality is very good
Florida
- New crop Florida berries have begun shipping
- Supplies remain limited as fields continue to experience cold, wet mornings
- Berry size is small (approximately 20-30 pieces per one-pound clamshell)
- Quality is good
