Strawberry supplies are tightening. Production is winding down in the Salinas/Watsonville area; stocks are also decreasing week over week in Santa Maria/Lompoc. Demand is strong; expect prices to climb.  

• Salinas/Watsonville growers have begun the transition from berry fields to winter vegetable plantings
• Shorter days combined with cooler nights have slowed plant growth and decreased yields in the Santa Maria/Lompoc area
• Expect prices to begin climbing next week
