UPDATE: Strawberries

Markon First Crop Strawberries are limited; Markon Best Available and packer label are being substituted as needed. Rain is forecast for California next week and Florida is experiencing unseasonably cold weather. Supplies are tightening; markets are poised to rise next week in all regions. Markon recommends moving orders to South Texas for best coverage and quality.

Oxnard is the primary growing region in California; Santa Maria will ramp up in February
- Significant rainfall (over an inch) is forecast for Monday, January 8 and Tuesday, January 9
- Prices will rise next week; supplies will be extremely limited in California next week
- Quality and shelf-life will be heavily impacted by the rains
- Mexican-grown strawberries crossing through South Texas are available
- Quality and weather has been favorable in Central Mexico
- Supplies are adequate, but prices are rising due to increased demand
- Markon recommends moving orders to South Texas next week for best coverage
- Stocks are tight
- Harvesting has been very sporadic, reducing availability
- The market is up
- The season will run through late February/early March
- Florida supplies have decreased due to recent rain and abnormally low temperatures
- Expect higher prices and tight supplies for the next few weeks
