UPDATE: Strawberries

Markon First Crop Strawberries are limited; Markon Best Available is being substituted as needed. The first significant rain event of California’s fall/winter growing season is forecast for this weekend. Oxnard, Salinas, Santa Maria, and Watsonville, California are all forecast to receive rainfall this Saturday, November 4 through Monday, November 6.

Salinas/Watsonville is calling for approximately 0.25” to 0.50”
- The season is winding down
- Shipments are expected to come to an end after this weekend
- Santa Maria will receive approximately 0.25” to 0.50”
- Saturday, Sunday, and Monday orders will be packed ahead; expect limited availability early next week
- Quality will suffer; Markon recommends ordering for quick turns
- Availability is limited as the season is just ramping up
- Stocks will further tighten next week, but the younger plants should recover quickly from water damage
- Limited shipments are crossing into South Texas this week
- Volume will be low for the next several weeks
- Oxnard is forecast to receive 0.25”
- The Mexican season is slowly getting underway; weather is favorable
