UPDATE: SQUASH

January 19, 2021

Squash markets are extremely active. Cool weather has slowed growth and reduced harvestable yields. The Mexican growing transition from Sonora to Sinaloa has been delayed.

  • Below-normal temperatures and overcast conditions have slowed growth in Mexico; supplies are tight
    • Rain is expected in Sinaloa later this week, potentially further delaying production
    • The Sonora season is winding down
  • Demand exceeds supply; prices are up
  • Florida stocks are tighter than normal due to cool weather
  • Expect elevated markets over the next two weeks
