UPDATE: Squash

Prices are increasing in all regions; cool weather and rain has slowed production and reduced yields in California and Michigan. Expect limited supplies out of all growing areas for the next two to three weeks until new crop supplies ramp up.

West Coast

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Squash is not available; packer label is being substituted as needed
  • Cooler-than-normal temperatures and overcast weather has slowed growth and reduced overall yields
  • The summer crop is winding down while the fall crop is slowly ramping up
  • Supplies are very tight; expect elevated markets for the next two to three weeks
  • The Nogales season will start in a light way by mid-to late September

East Coast

  • MFC Squash is not available; packer label is being substituted as needed
  • Michigan production is very light; cooler-than-normal temps and wet weather has curtailed harvest and reduced yields
  • The season will go for one to two more weeks with limited supply
  • New crop supplies are slowly ramping up in New Jersey, North Carolina, and Georgia
  • Expect increased prices and tight supplies for the next two to three weeks
