Despite rain and lower temperatures in California's major growing districts, the transition of iceberg and green leaf from the Arizona/California desert region to the Salinas Valley will occur the week of March 18. Arizona/California desert will ship through early April. 

• California's northern growing districts (Huron, Santa Maria, and Salinas Valley) are behind schedule by approximately two weeks, but will meet start dates if temperatures rise
  • Weather conditions over the past two months will cause tighter inventories, quality issues, smaller sizes, and lower weights
  • Demand for produce will increase as growers transition from the winter to the spring season
  • Markets will remain elevated for the next four to six weeks
• Quality will improve and supplies will increase by late April
