A solar eclipse will take place Monday, August 21 across the United States, with the eclipse path of totality crossing Eastern Idaho. Growers in Eastern Idaho expect an influx of people will create significant road congestion, limiting truck access to potato sheds. The majority of sheds in Idaho will not pack or ship potatoes Monday, August 21.

• The eclipse path of totality is 70 miles wide, centering over the Rexburg area
• Eastern Idaho expects 100,000 to 500,000 visitors for the total solar eclipse event
• Growers are concerned trucks will not be able to access sheds Monday due to increased traffic and limited road infrastructure
• Most potato sheds will not run Monday, August 21; sheds will resume packing and shipping Tuesday, August 22
• Markon recommends loading orders that would start Monday, August 21, on Friday, August 18 or Wednesday, August 23 to avoid visitor traffic
