UPDATE: SEVERE WEATHER IN SOUTH TEXAS

Low temperatures, snow, and wind throughout the state of Texas have caused dangerous road conditions, road closures, and rotating power outages that have led to many travel restrictions. President Biden has approved an emergency declaration for the state of Texas and has ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local responders. Winter storm and wind chill warnings have been issued in the South Texas area through noon today, February 15.
- Several South Texas shippers in the Rio Grande Valley have reported power disruptions due to elevated demand on the power grids
- Highways have been shut down affecting staff’s ability to report to work

Shipping will be delayed until conditions improve
- Delayed transfers from Mexico into South Texas due to unsafe driving conditions will affect the loading of several produce items including broccoli, limes, and strawberries
- Several US-Mexican borders have closed temporarily with no power; many shipments will not cross until tomorrow
- Mexico’s cold weather will affect quality and tighten supplies for the next several weeks
