UPDATE: SEVERE WEATHER IMPACTS SUPPLY CHAIN

February 17, 2021

Severe weather conditions continue as a winter low-pressure system eases its way into the Midwest and Northeast; millions continue without power in Texas.

  • Rotating power outages and road closures persist across the state of Texas
    • Most South Texas shippers’ power has returned
    • A few sheds continue without power
    • Mexican border crossings into South Texas are delayed
    • There is currently a backlog of inbounds from Mexico
    • Expect limited crossings for the balance of the week
  • Dangerously icy road conditions across Texas and the Midwest are delaying shipments across the country
    • Trucks in South Texas are on standby until conditions improve
    • West Coast long haul trucks heading east have been delayed
    • Carriers are concerned about the safety of their drivers
  • Markon expects shipments to be delayed and trucks to be on stand-by until Friday, February 19, once temperatures warm and road conditions improve
