Calavo Foods Division will be discontinuing Ready-Set-Serve (RSS) Avocado Halves on or before August 15, 2017; RSS Avocado Halves will only be available with Megamex Foods. Due to a significant rise in cost and limited supply of sufficient raw product this season, Calavo Foods is discontinuing their production of all processed avocado halves, including Calavo label. This decision is due to several factors including the quality and size of fruit available and the high amount of labor required to make processed avocado halves.

As an alternative, Calavo Foods is recommending high quality commodity avocados from their fresh division which are available in different ripeness levels depending on the end users application. Markon’s recommendation is to shift purchases for RSS Avocado Halves to Megamex as soon as possible; pack sizes are similar, but sizing is slightly smaller.
