UPDATE: Rain in California Growing Regions
April 17, 2018
Over the past two days, California’s Salinas Valley growing region received nearly half an inch of rainfall. Expected rain totals for tomorrow night are below one quarter of an inch. Any lettuce or leafy green market jumps will be short lived without any significant rain threats in the forecast.
- Recent rainfall was not substantial enough to create significant harvesting delays or supply interruptions
- While this week’s cooler temperatures can slow plant maturity, Markon anticipates above-average quality
- Markon First Crop Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine will be packed this week
