Growers in Southern California and Northern Baja, Mexico are preparing for another set of storms over the next few days. While the shipping community diligently plans to harvest around the rain and processing crews extend their production hours, Markon predicts harvesting and loading delays. 

• Some Southern California growing regions have already received over 1” of rain; an additional 1” is forecast by Sunday, January, 22
• Wet weather conditions are expected to hit the Northern Baja area this afternoon, followed by a much wetter storm starting Friday, January 20 and persisting into the weekend
• Overall rain totals for the next three days will range from ¾” to 1½” in the Northern Baja growing region
• Citrus, Green Onions, Herbs, and Strawberries will be most affected; expect limited supplies for the foreseeable future                          
• Quality issues (i.e. decay, mildew pressure, tip burn, and water damage) will also reduce yields and strengthen demand for stocks that are already tightening
• Markon inspectors are working with harvesting crews to make sure cartons are kept as clean and as dry as possible
