Markon First Crop (MFC) Washington D’Anjou Pears will be available through the second week of July. The new crop packer label California Bartlett season will begin the week of July 15.

Washington

• Quality of remaining supplies is excellent  
• Stocks are dominated by large fruit (80- and 90-count sizes)
• Smaller pears (100- and 135-count sizes) are extremely limited

California

• Direct loading will be available in Lodi, Finley, and Exeter, California
• Pears can also be consolidated at 4Earth Farms in Los Angeles
• Growers pack and sell by the count as opposed to the volume-fill method used in Washington
  • California suppliers ship 40-pound packs; Washington growers use 44-pound cartons
  • Due to this pack difference, California ships approximately 6 to 10 fewer pieces of fruit per unit compared to Washington

• The Bartlett season is forecast to begin the first week of August
• D’Anjou production will start early September
