UPDATE: Oranges

The California Valencia season has ended; remaining fruit is extremely scarce. As predicted over the past two weeks, a supply gap is expected through this week. New crop Navel harvesting will start the week of October 12; supplies will become available for shipping the week of October 19. Texas early orange variety and Navel oranges can be loaded in South Texas and more sporadically in Delano, California.
California Oranges
- Harvesting has ended
- Limited supplies will be depleted over the next several days
- Quality is fair
- New crop Navel harvesting will start the week of October 12
- Fruit will be placed in gas rooms for three to five days to enhance color
- The first shipments of California Navels will start the week of October 19
- Size will range from 72- to 113-count fruit
- Demand exceeds supply for all sizes and grades
- Prices will remain elevated through October
Florida Oranges
- The Florida juice orange harvest will begin the week of October 12; adequate volume is expected the week of October 19
- At the beginning of the season, the crop will be dominated by 100- to 125-count oranges
- New crop Florida Navels will be available in mid-November
Texas Oranges
- Oranges are available for loading in South Texas and more sporadically in Delano, California
- Fruit is being put into gas rooms for three to five days to enhance color
- Size range from 88- to 113-count oranges
- Strong demand and inconsistent supplies are pushing up prices
Offshore Oranges
- The Australian Navel season has ended
- Sporadic supplies of Chilean Navels will be on the market through next week
- Quality is very good
- Available sizes are dominated by 72-count fruit
- The market is stable
