Markon First Crop (MFC) Onions are readily available in the Northwest. Fresh-run, Texas-grown MFC Onions will be available the week of March 1.

• Northwest MFC Onion quality remains excellent with solid, globe-like shape, set skins, and firm texture; supplies will remain on the market through May
• Packer label, fresh-run Mexican onions are available out of South Texas
• Mexican grown fresh-run onions (shipped out of Texas) presently will have feathery skins and light color/exterior compared to Northwest storage onions
• Expect Colorado and Utah onions to ship through mid-March
• The California season is forecast to start late April (starting in the Imperial Valley desert region)
• New Mexico production should start in early June
