Markon First Crop Cantaloupes and Honeydews are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed. California’s Westside growing season has ended and the Arizona/California desert region is off to a slow start due to weather.
- Cantaloupe and honeydew supplies are limited; prices are climbing
- Quality issues are a concern in the desert growing region due to rain and hail
- The domestic season is forecast to end November 16
- Offshore fruit will begin arriving the week of November 18
- Packer label Mexican supplies will help meet demand
- Expect elevated prices while the crop transitions to offshore locations through November
