Cantaloupe and honeydew melon prices will remain elevated over the next ten days. Temperatures have been abnormally high in the desert growing region for the past month.

• Markon First Crop Cantaloupe and Honeydew Melons will be sporadic for the next two weeks
• Abnormally high temperatures have caused inconsistent maturity, low sugar levels, softness, and reduced shelf-life
• California’s Westside season has started on the western edge of the San Joaquin Valley, but it’s ramping up slowly due to cooler weather and above-average rainfall this past spring
• Expect more abundant supplies and better quality by late next week as production increases
