UPDATE: Limes
August 05, 2016
Lime supplies will be limited next week as the remnants of Hurricane Earl pass through the main growing regions of Tabasco and Veracruz, Mexico. Heavy showers (3 to 5 inches) and winds up to 40 miles per hour are forecast through Saturday, August 6. Significant production delays are expected over the next five days as growers assess damage and restore normal harvesting operations. Expect lime prices to spike over the next two weeks as industry supplies scale back.
- Stormy weather in Veracruz, Mexico will limit lime production over the next 5 to 7 days
- High wind speeds and heavy rain will cause issues such as bruising, scarring, and stylar/end breakdown
- Expect prices to increase through next week as supplies become limited
