Lime prices will be elevated over the next three to four weeks. Growers in the main harvesting region of Veracruz, Mexico are in the lowest production period of the year. Extreme labor shortages during the holiday weekend have disrupted harvesting schedules and reduced the supplies coming into South Texas. Expect fewer crossings into South Texas through the end of this week as the labor force returns to normal levels. Tight supplies and elevated prices will continue through mid- to late April.

• Industry volume will remain low as the winter season winds down
• Expect more plentiful supplies and lower prices by mid- to late April as the summer season will be ramping up
• The market is escalating and expected to reach the 40s by early next week
• Quality is good, but as current stocks diminish, fruit will require more sorting for problems such as discoloration and scarring
• Large sizes (110- to 150-count fruit) are extremely limited
