UPDATE: Lime Drought

Prices remain elevated. Extreme drought continues to affect supply chain. However, suppliers are hoping September rains will help the growing regions of Veracruz, Mexico in December. In the short term, supplies will remain very limited.
  • Some suppliers are invoking Force Majeure or “act of God” on contracts for the current season
  • Drought in the growing regions of Veracruz, Mexico the last several months has affected fruit availability, size, quality, and most important flowering
    • Markon expects supplies for the months of October and November to be affected by July and August drought and bloom drop
  • Rain activity in the Gulf of Mexico appears to have increased but will not deliver immediate relief to the supply shortage
    • Primary growing region of Veracruz, Mexico is located in the eastern region near the Gulf of Mexico
