UPDATE: Light Rain in California Growing Regions
April 02, 2018
Rain is forecast for California’s Salinas and San Joaquin Valley growing regions later this week. Expected rain totals range from ½ inch to 1 inch from Thursday, April 5 through Saturday, April 7.
- Rain in Salinas Valley will cause potential challenges and delays with growers transitioning from Huron
- Romaine supplies will be most affected as the Huron season is winding down and Salinas harvesting is starting in a limited capacity
- While rain will help with plant growth, erratic weather patterns will impact quality and shelf-life for lettuce and baby leaf items
