UPDATE: LEMONS

April 10, 2017

The market for small lemons (140-count and smaller sizes) continues to rise; supplies are limited (all grades). Stocks of 95-count and larger are more plentiful. Overall quality is good.

  • Small-size Markon First Crop and Markon Essentials Lemons are sporadic; packer label is being substituted as needed
  • Flexibility on size, grade, and loading locations may be needed for order coverage
  • This season’s rainfall in California’s primary growing regions has increased growth and fruit size, limiting small lemons
    • 145% more rainfall than average fell in California Coastal growing regions
    • 135% more rainfall than average fell in Central Valley growing regions
  • Expect prices to continue climbing through summer; offshore and Mexican supplies will hit the U.S. market in August
