UPDATE: Lemons
July 13, 2018
Lemon supplies remain extremely limited. The domestic California coastal season is coming to an end and offshore fruit availability is tight due to strong Pacific Rim demand. Markets are rising. Substituting sizes and grade will aid in order coverage.
- Markon First Crop and Markon Essentials Lemons are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
-
High temperatures in California’s coastal growing region increased plant maturity, shortening the season
- Shelf-life is shorter due to growing conditions during the summer months
- Order lead-time is highly encouraged
- Markon recommends ordering for quick turns
-
Expect prices to climb through the summer
- Limited quantities of offshore Chilean and Argentine lemons are available
- Color, packs, flavor, and pricing are comparable to domestic fruit
- Mexican-grown lemons will be on the market later this month
