UPDATE: IDAHO POTATOES
April 03, 2020
The Idaho potato market is leveling out. Demand remains stronger than normal for retail bags. Prices for 40- to 70-count stocks are weak.
- Idaho 40- to 70-count cartons are abundant
- Storage crop quality is very good, but pressure bruising and hollow heart will become more prevalent in potatoes weighing 10 ounces and larger
-
5/10-pound, 10/5-pound, and 6/8-pound retail bales are available
- Non A-size packs are tighter
- Jumbo 10-ounce minimum supplies are being substituted
- The increase in demand is forecast to cause a gap in Idaho potato supplies by late July; new crop harvesting is estimated to begin August 3
