UPDATE: Grapes

Markon First Crop (MFC) Lunch Bunch Grapes (in 21-pound packs) are not available; packer label is being substituted. The Chilean season is winding down. Prices for green seedless bags continue to rise, as supplies are rapidly decreasing. The market for red seedless bags remains stable; stocks will be available for another two weeks. New crop Mexican green seedless Perlette supplies will begin shipping Wednesday, May 6.

 

Lunch Bunch Grapes

  • Chilean MFC Lunch Bunch Grapes (in 21-pound packs) are not available; packer label is being substituted
  • The market remains stable, but it’s expected to increase by late May
    • Quality is good
    • Flavor is sweet
  • Sugar levels range between 17 and 20 Brix
  • New crop Mexican portion-packed grapes (in the 21-pound size) will be begin shipping in early June
  • New crop MFC Lunch Bunch Grapes will not be available until July, when growers transition to California’s San Joaquin growing region

 

Green Seedless Grapes

  • The Chilean season is winding down
    • Prices for storage supplies continue to climb
    • Remaining Thompson stocks are extra-large in size and elongated in shape
    • Color is light green with some straw coloring
    • Flavor is sweet: sugar levels range from 17 to 19 Brix
  • New crop Mexican Perlettes will begin shipping Wednesday, May 6
    • Initial prices will be elevated, but will ease as supplies increase over the next several weeks
    • Berry shape will be round; size will range from medium to large
    • Color will be vibrant green
    • Expect a range of sweet to tart flavor with crunchy texture; sugar levels are approximately 16 Brix

 

Red Seedless Grapes

  • Supplies of the Chilean red seedless Crimson variety will be on the market for another two weeks
    • Fruit color is dark red
    • Berry shape is elongated
    • Flavor is sweet: sugar levels range from 19 to 21 Brix
    • Prices are stable
  • Mexican new crop stocks of the Flame variety will begin shipping the week of May 18
    • Fruit will be round in shape and medium in size
    • Color will be dark red
    • Sugar levels will be approximately 16 Brix
    • The market will start off high, but will ease as the season progresses
