UPDATE: Grapes

Markon First Crop (MFC) Lunch Bunch Grapes are available in 5- and 21-pound packs; quality is very good. The Chilean season is winding down. The final Chilean green seedless shipments should reach the U.S. by April 10; red seedless supplies will continue to arrive until April 20. Limited quantities of new crop Mexican green seedless grapes will be on the market as early as May 4; the red seedless season will start shortly after. Green seedless prices will rise sharply, while the red seedless market should slowly climb over the next two weeks.
Lunch Bunch
- MFC Lunch Bunch Grapes are available in 5- and 21-pound packs
- Quality is very good
- Texture is crunchy and flavor is sweet
- Prices are stable
- New crop Mexican Lunch Bunch supplies will be on the market in early June
- Expect a MFC Lunch Bunch supply gap starting the week of April 20
- Supplies will be shipped on container vessels instead of break bulk boats
- Travel time is longer on container vessels; 21 days versus 12 days
- MFC Lunch Bunch will resume shipping the week of May 4 for a short 7- to 10-day period
- Packer label portion packs will be substituted from May 11 until the new crop California season starts in July
Green Seedless
- The Chilean green seedless market is escalating
- Green seedless storage supplies are commanding higher prices for quality fruit
- Non-storage green seedless remain on the market at lower prices
- Quality is good: amber coloring and soft texture will become issues as the season winds down
- New crop Mexican green seedless stocks will be on the market the week of May 4
- Early season supplies will be limited, but volume levels should be reached by May 11
- The addition of new crop stocks will ease the Chilean market
- Markon recommends ordering for quick turns to avoid high-priced inventory
Red Seedless
- Chilean red seedless supplies will be on the market through early May
- Quality is very good
- Texture is crunchy and flavor is sweet
- Prices remain stable, but will begin to climb as the season winds down
- New crop Mexican red seedless fruit will become available the week of May 11, but supplies will be tight until volume levels are reached the week of May 18
