UPDATE: EAST COAST WEATHER
October 02, 2015
Occasional rain showers are forecast in East Coast bell pepper, cucumber, and squash growing regions through the weekend, but seasonal transitions are moving production out of areas in Hurricane Joaquin’s path. High surf and some coastal flooding may occur in Florida, but inland crops won’t start production until November.
- Bell pepper, cucumber, and squash stocks are diminishing in Michigan, New York, and North Carolina; volume in new crop Georgia fields has increased to sufficient levels
- Florida cucumber and squash fields will start production in early November; bell pepper harvesting will begin in mid-November
- Cloudiness and showers may slow product growth and curtail harvesting schedules over the next few days, but high temperatures and clear skies are forecast for next week
