UPDATE: CUCUMBERS

March 30, 2021

Expect active markets through mid-April. Supplies are tightening; cool temperatures have been hindering growth in Mexico. Florida crops remain limited, but increased yields are expected in one to two weeks.

Mexico

  • Mexico is the main growing region
    • The Sinaloa season will run through April; super-select volume is low
    • New crop production is off to a slow start in the northern growing region of Sonora; cold weather has affected quality and size
    • The Baja harvest is starting to ramp up
  • Quality is average

Florida

  • Florida domestic supplies remain tight
    • Additional acreage will be harvested over the next two weeks
    • Early pack-outs are dominated by select grades; super selects are limited
    • Higher yields and better quality are forecast
  • Imports from Honduras will wrap up this week
