UPDATE: Cold Temperatures in the Southeast

December 28, 2017

Colder-than-normal temperatures are expected for the next 10 days in Georgia and Northern Florida.  Temperatures will drop into the mid- to upper 40s during the day and low to mid-30s at night.

  • Markon First Crop Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, and Squash are available in Florida
    • Current supplies are sufficient, but lower temperatures will slow growth and delay production
    • Prices for bell peppers, cucumbers, and squash will hold steady
  • The Georgia cabbage season is ending
  • Growers will transition to Northern Florida next week
  • Supplies will be limited
  • Prices will rise
  • Although tomato production will be slow, new crop supplies are expected to be plentiful; the market will continue to drop, but at a slower pace
