UPDATE: CILANTRO
June 05, 2020
Expect an active cilantro market over the next several weeks.
- The industry is experiencing a brief supply gap caused by April rain in California’s Central Coast growing regions (Salinas Valley, Santa Maria, and Ventura County); wet fields prevented growers from planting as scheduled
- Recent California weather has been warmer than normal, with high humidity, which tends to turn leaves yellow/brown and encourage seeder development; these problems may be seen over the next few weeks
- Shelf-life potential may also be reduced due to the fluctuations in temperature and humidity levels
