The regions where most cilantro is grown (Baja, Mexico as well as Oxnard and Salinas, California), have been greatly affected by the hot and humid weather on the West Coast. The iced cilantro carton market is rising; yields are down and quality is fair to poor. Ready-Set-Serve Washed & Trimmed Cilantro is sporadic; packer label will be substituted as needed.

• All three growing regions are battling hot, humid, and rainy weather from Tropical Storm Dolores
• High temperatures are weakening cell structure; plants are growing too fast to develop the strong cell walls necessary for longer shelf-life
• Bacterial leaf spotting, burn, mildew, pre-mature yellowing, and small size are problems reducing shelf-life
• Industry supplies are extremely tight; yields are low
• Some growers are harvesting at night when temperatures are the coolest and product is strongest 
• Expect limited supplies for the next 7 to 10 days
• Maintaining the cold chain is critical; ordering for quick turns is recommended
