Offshore cantaloupe prices continue to rise; expect extremely limited supplies through January.

Cantaloupe

• Volume is extremely low in the main growing regions of Guatemala and Honduras
  • November hurricanes pushed through fields, stunting growth and reducing crop yields; large sizes are especially tight
  • Demand exceeds supply; arrivals are limited on both coasts
  • Quality is good; sugar levels range from 12 to 14 Brix
  • Expect elevated markets through January

Honeydew

• Offshore and Mexican honeydews are on the market
  • The market is steady to slightly higher; overall supplies are ample between both growing regions
  • Prices are forecast to increase gradually over the next two weeks as fewer cantaloupes are on the market
  • Quality is good; sugar levels range from 11 to 13 Brix
  • Expect rising markets in January
