UPDATE: CANTALOUPE AND HONEYDEW

Supplies of large-size cantaloupes are extremely tight at this early point in the domestic season. The offshore season will conclude this week, while Mexican production will wind down in late May. The domestic honeydew season has started in a limited manner with a good mix of sizes; Mexican supplies will remain on the market through June.

  • Markon First Crop Cantaloupe and Honeydew are available
  • Domestic 9- and 12-count cantaloupes are extremely tight; prices for those sizes are elevated
    • 15- and 18-count fruit is plentiful and priced $6.00 to $8.00 lower per case than 9- and 12-count melons
    • Large sizes will remain limited for the next 10 to 15 days
  • Domestic honeydew harvests are just getting started
    • Availability is fairly-limited this week
    • Mexican honeydews will be shipped as needed
  • Overall quality is very good
