Strawberry prices continue to rise; demand remains strong heading into the Independence Day holiday. California harvesting is centered in the Salinas/Watsonville growing areas.

Salinas/Watsonville

• Markon First Crop (MFC) Strawberries are available
• Abnormally warm temperatures received in early June have reduced current yields
• Heat has diminished fruit size; it now takes more berries to fill clamshells
• Quality has held strong

Santa Maria

• MFC Strawberries are available
• Stocks are tight as production is past peak levels
• Quality is good
