UPDATE: Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, and Squash
February 05, 2020
Rain and low temperatures are hitting Mexico’s primary growing regions for bell peppers, cucumbers, and squash this week. Reduced harvesting hours, lighter yields, and fewer supplies will cause prices to rise.
- Cooler-than-normal temperatures and recent rain have slowed production in Culiacan, Sinaloa, and Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico
- Yields are down, reducing crossings into Nogales, Arizona and McAllen, Texas
- Demand is shifting to Florida, causing availability to tighten on the East Coast as well
- Expect higher prices for the month of February
